Q: What is a consultation and how does it work?

During the consultation, you will complete a comprehensive medical questionnaire. You can also state your preferred type of treatment. Based on your answers, a doctor will prepare a product recommendation for you within 48 hours. If you approve this recommendation, a pharmacy will dispatch the products to your home within 3 days.

Q: How long will it take to receive my order?

Our partner pharmacies will dispatch your order within 3 days. You can then typically start your treatment straight away.

Q: Are there delivery charges?

For prescription medicines, delivery is included in the price. For over-the-counter products, there is a delivery charge of £ 4.21. We offer free delivery on orders over £4 0. If your order includes both, delivery is free.

Q: Can I change, cancel or return my order?

Unfortunately, once an order has been placed, it cannot be changed . If you have ordered the wrong product, or wish to change or cancel your order, please contact our customer service team immediately. Over-the-counter products can only be cancelled if they have not yet been prepared or dispatched by the pharmacy. Prescription medicines can be cancelled if they have not yet been assessed by a doctor. Returns are only accepted for over-the-counter products in their original unopened and undamaged packaging, within 14 days of dispatch.

What is Utrogestan?

Utrogestan is a medication that contains the hormone progesterone. This is a bioidentical hormone, which is also naturally present in your body. The capsules or vaginal capsules are used as part of hormone therapy for menopausal symptoms. Utrogestan is typically prescribed as a supplement to oestrogen hormone therapy for women with a uterus. It helps to complement the effects of oestrogen, protects the uterine lining from unwanted growth, and reduces the risk of uterine cancer. It may also assist with poor sleep. Utrogestan is available by prescription only.

What can you expect from Utrogestan?

Utrogestan is a hormone therapy in the form of (vaginal) capsules. It supplements the progesterone deficiency that can occur during menopause and oestrogen supplementation. You can usually notice a reduction in symptoms within a few weeks. The effect varies from person to person. Utrogestan only works when used in combination with oestrogen therapy. It protects the uterine lining from excessive growth caused by oestrogen.

When should I use Utrogestan?

Use Utrogestan daily according to the schedule prescribed by your doctor, usually in combination with oestrogen supplementation.
Take the capsules orally or vaginally, depending on your doctor’s advice.

For which symptoms is Utrogestan used?

This medication is only used to prevent heavy menstrual bleeding and to maintain a healthy uterine lining during oestrogen supplementation.

It may also assist with:

Poor sleep

Do not use Utrogestan if you:

Are allergic to progesterone or any of the other ingredients
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Have severe liver conditions
Have (or have had) blood clots or thrombosis
Have unexplained vaginal bleeding
Have certain types of cancer (such as breast cancer or uterine cancer)
Are taking certain other medications that are not compatible with Utrogestan (see the package leaflet for a complete list)
Are unsure about combining it with other medications; in this case, consult your doctor
Do not have a uterus, unless prescribed by your doctor

Possible side effects of Utrogestan

Common (in 1 to 10 out of 100 people):

Drowsiness
Dizziness
Headache
Tender breasts
Irregular menstruation
Abdominal pain

Uncommon (in 1 to 10 out of 1,000 people):

Nausea
Diarrhoea
Fatigue
Mood changes
Skin reactions

Rare (in fewer than 1 out of 1,000 people):

Allergic reactions
Jaundice
Blood clots

In rare cases, these side effects can lead to serious symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, facial swelling, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), or signs of thrombosis (sudden pain, swelling, or redness in a leg, chest pain, shortness of breath). In these situations, always contact a doctor immediately.

Risks of hormone therapy

The use of medication can involve risks. This also applies to hormone therapy:

Increased risk of breast cancer and uterine cancer with long-term use.
Slightly increased risk of cardiovascular disease (such as thrombosis).
Slightly increased risk of stroke. Smoking, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol further increase this risk.
